LOCAL SAP VALUE. In previous clients, the local service
access point was shared by each router connection. With
the NetSoft router under Windows 95, the use of SAPs is
dependent upon the protocol, Microsoft 32-bit DLC. This
protocol requires that each router connection has a unique local
SAP. By default, the Max SAPs value is 5. This value can be
increased to 10. Therefore, the theoretical maximum number
of AS/400 connections available using the Microsoft 32-bit
DLC is 10. Based on the way that Windows 95 manages
communications, this value is independent of the additional
number of connections available through other protocols.

If by mistake you try to connect a second router that has a
duplicate Local SAP, you will need to go back and change the
Local SAP on the second router, and also, change the DSAP on the
AS/400 controller description that was created (so that the
SAPs match). If you have duplicate or non-matching SAPs, you
will usually get a Return Code of 200 displayed.

NETWORK CARDS. In General, if Windows 95 recognizes and
supports an NIC (test with MS Client), then the card should work
with Client Access/400 for Windows 95. Supported cards:
    IBM Token Ring 16/4 Adapter
IBM Auto Token Ring 16/4 Adapter *
IBM Token Ring 16/4 Adapater/A (MCA)
    IBM EtherStreamer 32-MCA

    * Updated drivers from Microsoft are required. The URL is:
       file name: 'IBMTOK4.EXE'
               or
      'ftp://ftp.pcco.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/network/'
       file name: 'TRIAU2.EXE'
               or
      'http://www.raleigh.ibm.com/nes/nestoken.htm'
       file name: 'TRIAU2.EXE'

TRIAU2.EXE is diskette #2 of the LANAID program.
When selecting the 'IBM AUTO TOKEN-RING 16/4'
driver, select 'HAVE DISK'. Assuming that
TRIAU2.EXE was extracted to diskette, specify
'a: Win95'. When later prompted for the card
manufacturer diskette, just enter 'a: ' as the
       path.

Unsupported Cards.
IBM Token Ring Adapter II (The card has been discontinued
and there are no plans to build a native Windows 95
       device driver).

Tested Cards. IBM does not and cannot warrant OEM equipment.
This list is for informational purposes only and does not imply
that SupportLine will provide hardware support or Windows 95
configuration support for any piece of hardware. This list
represents cards that were found to be fairly reliable.
As there are many OEM venders and cards, this is not an
inclusive list of all cards that the Windows 95 operating system
will support.
    3COM Etherlink III - 3C509B
    Intel EtherExpress-16
    PROTEON P1370-E
    SMC EtherEZ (8416)

Other Cards. At the time of the writing the following cards
did note have drivers that supported Window 95's 32-bit DLC:
    Intel Token Express Pro
